Memorization was never my strongest point as a student. I was lucky enough to skate on average grades through high school and maintain my place in the honors class without cheating being dragged into the equation. Well, save for that instance back in sophomore year when our class had to retake the Geometry exam after suspicions of a leak got out. The thing is, I would never do something that the school frowned upon.
The students in Bad Genius were made of sturdier stuff.😮
What is it about?
Inspired by real-life events, the movie tells the story of a straight A-student who devises an elaborate cheating scheme for exams upon the prodding of her academically-challenged (but moneyed) friends. What starts within their grade soon progresses to international levels as greed and ambition takes over the characters’ moral compass.
The plot is set-up like a well-orchestrated heist-flick, with potential loopholes rehearsed and planned for in case they get caught. What they failed to anticipate was the possibility that a deception this huge would break amateurs like them emotionally.
