PR nightmares be damned, the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle (now Duke and Duchess of Sussex) went without a hitch last Saturday much to the delight of hopeless romantics all over the world. It was unconventional, to say the least, compared to Prince William’s own wedding in 2011 with the couple keeping the guest list an intimate curious mix of celebrity, British high society and royalty.
Perhaps paying tribute to Miss Markle’s roots, the inclusive ceremony also featured a sermon from American bishop Michael Curry and a touching performance of “Stand By Me” from The Kingdom Choir. Check out the adorable clip of the sermon which kept the royals struggling to maintain their composure.😂
Having followed the family’s history since my teens, it was a joy to see Harry radiating with so much love for his bride as she walked down the aisle. I thought it was a lovely gesture from the Prince of Wales to take up his future daughter-in-law’s request in the absence of her own father. Diana would have been proud to see her boys marry for love.
The official wedding photos stayed true to the couple’s laid-back nature as photographer Alexi Lubomirski captured everyone in their most relaxed state after the day’s earlier festivities.
How cute were Prince George and Princess Charlotte though? Of the two, the latter is turning out to be quite a charmer and a perfect contrast to her more reserved older brother. I cannot wait until Prince Louis is much older and able to join the family on official appearances. For now, there’s his baptism to look forward to.
