Milestones: February 2017

by Rose

And just like that, we’re now into the third month of the year. February flew by so fast I barely had time suck it all in. That breezy weather sure didn’t last long, huh? I miss it. Now it’s the impending summer heat that’s making its presence felt.

As bipolar as the weather is nowadays, the last month was equally a rollercoaster of emotions.

Blame it on being caught off-guard. The revelation towards the end of #Date had me near tears because it hit too close to home. You see, Jollibee unknowingly factored in during the first few hours after we lost a loved one nearly five years ago.😢 That’s how much the brand is deeply rooted in Filipino culture.

If you thought Shin Mi Rae from City Hall was polarizing as a main character, wait until you meet Oh Hae Young. For someone who’s outspoken, feisty and somewhat crass, she somehow managed to snag someone like Park Do Kyung who’s every inch her opposite. If not for Eric Mun, I would’ve dropped this drama halfway. It’s a good thing the supporting characters had entertaining sub-plots that I wanted to see resolved so I soldiered on.

Speaking of Mun Jung Hyuk, I have descended further into the Shinhwa black hole and began combing through their past videos on Youtube. It’s a treasure trove of goodies! MVs, live performances, variety show guesting, VLive… I want to watch everything as long as it’s English-subbed. And why is it that the more I watch their videos, the more I find Dong Wan adorable?😍 Junjin, of course, still owns my heart.💕

AMPAS just had to throw in one before the month ended with the Best Picture mix-up at the recent Academy Awards. Can you imagine the collective embarrassment felt by the La La Land people who were in the middle of their speech when the error was being rectified? I also feel for the Moonlight team who were robbed of their rightful moment. Oh well, set-up or not, this was still publicity that kept social media on fire even after the show ended. Bring on the memes!😂

Jollibee’s date commercial hit the head on the nail for me. I lost my dad a few years ago and we’d always spend Valentines as a family before. Now, it’s just my mom, my sister and me. Watching it drowned me in a pool of my own tears. Huhu. I even warned my mom against watching it but she was too curious so she hit the play button and regretted it afterwards. Whoops.

*hugs* Same here. When my brother died, it was at Jollibee where my sister and I had our first meal after what happened. Umiyak lang kami nang umiyak habang kumakain ng chicken joy.

I still wish I was able to watch all the Jollibee commercials on TV, and not on Facebook. I would have loved the feeling of watching it in between shows, mas nakakakilig and mas may kagat unlike watching a Youtube link hehe. Or baka ako lang yon. 🙂

Haha. Yeah, I get your point. Iba pa rin pag pinapanood mo siya on TV. Mas may gulat factor. 🙂
